Office Consultation

If you are located close enough to come to my office in Crestline, California, you will experience all of the treatment modalities which I include in my phone consultation:

  • Discuss your health issues, medical history and any current treatment
  • Prescription of herbal formulas and supplements
  • Recommendations for the use of essential oils
  • Advice concerning diet
  • Suggest alterations in life style to aid in healing

In addition to the above,  in my office,  you can receive:

  • Acupuncture Andrew treating a patient with acupuncture
  • Acupressure
  • Therapeutic massage
  • Essential oil treatment

As in a phone consultation, I will prescribe as indicated, herbal formulas that are formulated by me especially for you and your specific condition. I may suggest supplements and some diet indications and possibly some life style changes. All of the above assist healing and balancing of the body systems.

Additional Oriental Medicine

In addition to Acupuncture and Acupressure, Oriental Medicine offers other modalities in the clinical setting. These are used to enhance the effects of the treatment

1) Moxabustion: This involves the therapeutic use of burning herbs (primarily Mugwort) close to Acupuncture points to warm the area and enhance the flow of Qi (energy) and blood to that point and meridian. It is very vitalizing and is especially helpful for patients with a tendency towards cold. It is also used in the context of acute or chronic injuries (and following surgery) and for pain in general where there is stagnant blood which will also block Qi and blood and prevent the consummation of healing.

2) Cupping: This involves the application of glass cups with suction either over specific Acupuncture points, or else in generalized areas to vitalize the Qi and blood. Another use is called ‘running cups’ where cups are used following the application of oils (usually on the back). It is much like a massage and has the advantage of being able to treat all of the back organ points (called Back-Shu Points). This can even serve as treatment in and of itself for someone who might be afraid of needles or too frail for Acupuncture.

3) Guasha: This produces effects somewhat like cupping but can be used in more inaccessible parts of the body as well as on the face. After the application of oils, a tool (they vary much in shape) made of ceramic material or an animal horn is used to apply pressure to a given area, again moving stagnant Qi and blood and bringing fresh circulation to the area.

It is also the final procedure in my Acupuncture Face-lift treatments. Apart from being very relaxing, it tightens and revitalizes the skin, and removes wrinkles (the cosmetological series always involves herbal support also). Facial treatments can include face needles followed by Guasha or just Guasha by itself.

4) Tuina: Essentially, this is Chinese therapeutic massage, used for injury, pain or just general stiffness. In these contexts, I will employ Tuina along with all the other modalities.

5) TDP Heat Lamp: This is an infra-red light that slowly heats a mineral plate, thus radiating its healing effects to the part of the body for injury or pain. It will also be used to warm the abdomen (Stomach-Spleen) during any treatment. When employed with Tuina, I like to call it a Tuina-Melt.
